Subhashini Chandrasekaran, M.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained cataract and refractive surgeon dedicated to providing advanced, patient-centered eye care. Dr. Chandrasekaran is committed to utilizing advanced technologies such as microincisional instrumentation, intraoperative aberrometry, femtosecond laser, and 3D surgical visualization, utilizing these cutting-edge technologies to improve surgical precision and recovery times. Education and Certifications

Dr. Chandrasekaran graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. She then completed her medical degree at New Jersey Medical School, where she was honored with the AOA Research Achievement Award. Following medical school, Dr. Chandrasekaran completed a transitional year at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, before pursuing her ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, NY. This experience exposed her and trained her to manage a wide range of complex pathology and surgical challenges. After completing her residency, Dr. Chandrasekaran further honed her skills through a fellowship in cataract and refractive surgery at the Eye Institute of West Florida in Largo, FL, under the mentorship of surgeons Dr. Robert Weinstock and Dr. Neel Desai. During this time, she deepened her knowledge in utilizing advanced technology, further elevating her ability to tailor surgical care to each patient’s unique needs.

Raised in Edison, NJ, Dr. Chandrasekaran is fluent in English and Tamil, and conversational in Spanish, enabling her to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of medicine, she enjoys traveling, hiking, beaches, water activities, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
