Devang L. Bhoiwala, M.D. is a fellowship-trained cataract and glaucoma surgeon. He specializes in numerous advanced techniques, such as standard and premium intraocular lenses that correct astigmatism and presbyopia, as well as the latest techniques in medical, laser, and surgical glaucoma. He provides a full spectrum of state-of-the-art minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) approaches as well as traditional glaucoma surgery.

Dr. Bhoiwala completed his clinical glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious Tufts University – New England Eye Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston Massachusetts. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Albany Medical Center and earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College. During his training, he developed an interest in research and went on to complete the Research to Prevent Blindness Fellowship at the highly respected Scheie Eye Institute of University of Pennsylvania. His research led to the co-authoring of numerous papers in ophthalmology and neurodegenerative diseases. He graduated cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, as part of the 7-year Accelerated BS/MD program.

Dr. Bhoiwala is a member of the American Glaucoma Society and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  His hospital affiliations include Clara Maass Medical Center, part of the Barnabas Health System, Essex Specialized Surgical Institute and Hackensack University Medical Center at Mountainside.

Dr. Bhoiwala has fostered a passion for understanding his patient’s needs and helping them improve their quality of life. He is devoted to the education of his patients on the care of their eyes as part of a well-rounded approach.
