Dr. Adrian Jachens was born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey, and graduated from Clifton High School. He then earned a Bachelor’s of Science cum laude from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. He completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Rutgers – New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ, where he was the recipient of several prestigious scholarships. He completed his ophthalmology residency at New York Medical College, where he was selected by peers and supervisors to serve as Chief Resident during his final year. Following his residency training, Dr. Jachens completed a fellowship in Cornea, Refractive Surgery and External Disease at the University of Texas–Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where he also served as an Assistant Clinical Instructor for resident education.

Dr. Jachens is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. He has lectured at many international conferences and has published numerous articles in various peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Jachens specializes in cataract, laser refractive and corneal surgeries. He has extensive experience in laser-assisted cataract surgery on both the Catalys and LenSX laser platforms as well as the advanced technology multifocal and extended depth of focus intraocular lens implants. Dr. Jachens also has extensive experience on four different laser vision correction platforms, having performed countless LASIK and PRK procedures. As a fully-trained corneal specialist, Dr. Jachens performs full and partial thickness corneal transplants and handles complex corneal and ocular surface diseases such as dry eye syndrome and infections.

Dr. Jachens is married to a fellow physician, Samantha P. Herman, M.D., who practices dermatology in Wayne, New Jersey, as well as in Hudson County. The couple lives in Bergen County with their son and daughter. In his downtime, Dr. Jachens enjoys skiing, golf, volleyball and traveling with his family.
